Zoey Anne Madigan-Star (born October 5, 1992), is an American-born professional wrestler of chiefly Italian descent who has also wrestled under the name Zahara Matisse, her stage name during her magic performances. She made her professional debut in Visionaries of Wrestling (VoW) as Zahara Matisse on October 24, 2015 at the Breakthrough: Proving Grounds show in Cardiff, Wales. She also competed in the short-lived Perfect 10 Wrestling (P10W) promotion, making it to the finals of the Killer Queen Tournament. When P10W folded, Zoey was without a home promotion for a time until her debut in Ladies All-Star Wrestling (LAW) at LAW #57 on January 22, 2017 in Philadelphia alongside her lifelong friend and tag team partner, Farrah Martell, as part of the Boardwalk Angels.
In addition to her wrestling, Zoey is also an accomplished stage magician and has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Physical Therapy. In school, she trained extensively in gymnastics and dance, predominantly jazz dance, before refocusing her efforts on her stage magic and, in turn, wrestling.
Personal and Early Life[]
Born to Dennis and Lucinda Madigan on October 5th, 1992, Zoey's early life was, in a word, normal. From a young age she had a propensity for performance though it did not fully manifest until her high school years. From middle school onward she took Honors and AP courses toward earning her eventual degree, splitting time between her studies and her affection for magic as well as her extracurricular activities, including dancing and gymnastics, and a part-time job as a waitress in a local Italian restaurant near her parents' home in Trenton. Early in her middle school years she became friends with Farrah Martell, forging a friendship that has lasted to the present day. In truth, Farrah was her only friend for most of middle and high school aside from Courtney Leinart, another friend who got into wrestling and became reacquainted with Zoey and Farrah upon the former's entrance into P10W. Zoey explains her social life in school as follows:
"After a point, the people I'd been friends with started to drift away. I take some of the blame for that because I really didn't have time to do more than talk or catch up between classes or during lunch. Coupling classes with other activities and a job made me a bit reclusive. It still hurt when they stopped speaking to me or just avoiding me altogether and as a result I threw myself even further into those activities. It became a sort of downward spiral relationship-wise. Farrah was in a similar situation herself and that's how we stuck together so long; we understood one another's situations."
Zoey was also very close to her brother, Drake, who served in the Army as a Green Beret. The two of them were inseparable during the times that Drake was home and their dream was to become a brother/sister tag team in wrestling once Drake's service was up. However, he lost his life in Afghanistan which was a devastating blow to Zoey, almost causing her to give up on her dreams completely. A letter she received from him, dated about a week before his passing, gave her the courage to keep going, however. She speaks little of her brother publicly, and on those rare occasions always speaks of him reverently. Notably, she dedicated herself and Farrah's tag title win at LAW Rising Stars '17 to him.
Shortly after her VoW debut, Zoey met another wrestler, Katalina Star, with whom a relationship blossomed. The two eventually became engaged, announcing such in August of 2016 with a wedding date set for March 31, 2017. Interestingly, the two have competed against one another twice, always being on opposing sides of the 'philosophical fence' when it came to their alliances and efforts in wrestling. It was from Katalina and her partner Katie Klein, in fact, that the Boardwalk Angels won the LAW Tag Team Championships, something that Zoey admits with a smile made things interesting at home for a while. On March 31st, 2017, Zoey married her fiancee, Katalina Star, which led to her taking a few weeks off from competition with LAW. She returned at LAW #62 to team with her fellow Boardwalk Angels to defeat Guilty Pleasures. On April 16th, Zoey signed to compete with Wild Side Wrestling. On April 29th, she signed up to compete in the Redemption Wrestling 2017 All-Female Invitational.
Professional Wrestling Career[]
Visionaries of Wrestling
As Zahara Matisse, Zoey made her debut in VoW on October 24, 2015 in Cardiff, Wales, defeating Damian Knight in a singles match. Throughout the next few months, Zoey went on an undefeated streak, defeating such notables as Joanna Thade, Matt Slater, Tyler Storm and Stacy Jones. Her first PPV match, at Darkest Hour '15, saw her defeat Alec Rose, and her second, a Streak vs. Streak Match at Double Jeopardy, saw her eke out a win against Kelsey Spencer. Her streak continued until Nothing Else Matters '16 when she took on Xcel Champion Constance Chapin with the championship on the line. Constance won after a hard-fought match and won the rematch as well at Fate of the Gods II. After this match, Zoey drifted a bit, winning matches but becoming directionless. She earned what could be considered an upset when she defeated Ace Watson, the then-Zero Gravity Champion, in a non-title match. Unfortunately, a title match between the two would not have a chance to manifest before VoW closed its doors in October of 2017.
Perfect 10 Wrestling
Zoey's tenure in P10W was much shorter than it was in VoW. The one-night Killer Queen tournament saw her win her way into the finals by defeating Bianca Davis and Ari Rohr, though she would suffer a knee injury due to an assault by Rohr and Avaset Kaiser, the latter going on to win the tournament by defeating Zoey in the finals. In a match that would determine her placement in the company's battle royale, which would lead to a title shot for the winner, she was defeated by Rohr, meaning that had the event commenced as planned she would have entered first. However the company closed before that event could take place, leaving Zoey without a company to call home.
The company recently reopened its doors and Zoey was the first to re-sign with them. She is slated to be on their first show since the re-opening on July 21st, facing off against Jade Valentine. This match saw her take a fireball to the right eye by Valentine, forcing the match to be ruled a no-contest. Though she is attempting to train and wrestle through the injury, doctors have stated that Zoey will have to wear a patch over the eye for eight to ten weeks and that there is a chance that full sight may not be recovered. This injury has caused a shift in her personality toward a darker side. This seems to have been exacerbated due to her match which saw her team with Stacy Jones versus the Uprising. Sylvia Lopez's interference led to Zahara being pinned, followed by further assaults by Daria Crane and Jade Valentine, the latter of whom tried to throw another fireball at Zahara. Thanks to a save by Synn, Zahara and Stacy were able to run off their attackers. The event, however, has caused a further slip no doubt compounded by Zahara not being included in the P10W World Title picture by Venice Cardigan.
Ladies All-Star Wrestling
Debuting on January 22, 2017 in LAW, Zoey and Farrah, as the Boardwalk Angels, fought to a no-contest with Guilty Pleasures (Kenzi Grey and Kate Steele) at LAW #57 in Philadelphia. A bitter enmity existed between these two teams before this match due to personal matters which, in Zoey's words, infested Twitter for far longer than was proper. Constant altercations between the two teams led to fight after the Angels' victory over the Dynasty at LAW #58, a match which earned the Angels an opportunity to face the then-tag champions, the Naughty Girls, at Rising Stars. Again, this time at the top of the event, Guilty Pleasures and the Boardwalk Angels were involved in a brawl, this time drawing the Naughty Girls and the Dynasty into the mix. Later in the night, Guilty Pleasures became number-one contenders for the tag titles, which the Angels won from the Naughty Girls despite interference from several sources including Kenzi Grey.
At LAW #59, the Angels defeated the Dynasty in a non-title match. Earlier that evening, Farrah made her presence known during the handicap match pitting Grey and Steel against Crystal Millar. Farrah attacked Steele with a chair after the match ended, feeding the fires of this feud even further. Hostilities increased when an assault on Crystal Millar led to the young superstar beginning an association with the Boardwalk Angels, requesting entrance into the group. At LAW #62, the Boardwalk Angels confronted Guilty Pleasures as a unit with Crystal alongside them, setting the tone for their six-person tag later in the evening (won when Courtney pinned Kate Steele) as well as the Angels' title defense against GP at Validation.
The Angels suffered their first defeat at LAW #65 in a six-woman tag pitting Zoey, Farrah and Crystal against LAW Champion Amy Jo Smyth, LAW Marquee Champion Amirai Reilley and Mackenzie Roberts when Smyth forced Crystal to tap out. Farrah then defeated Kayla Winters via disqualification by Kayla's sister and Dynasty partner, Christy. This led to the Angels challenging the Dynasty to a Boardwalk Brawl at Queen of the Ring which saw several violent moments including Zoey and Kayla attacking one another with a pizza slicer and Farrah taking a dive off a 20' balcony onto their opponents en route to the Angels retaining their tag titles. At LAW #69, the champs teamed with the newest Boardwalk Angel, Stacy Jones, to defeat the Queens of Wrestling (Angelica Vaughn and Ashley Williams) and their fellow #CoolKid, Roxy Cotton. At LAW #70, she teamed with Katalina Star in a losing effort versus LAW Champion Amy Jo Smyth and Pet.
At LAW #71, the Angels faced off against one of their most difficult challenges yet in the form of a very game Team Kickass (Sarah Lacklan and Kenzi Grey) but came out with a victory via Zoey's surprise Seeing Stars against Sarah. From there, Zoey and Farrah headed into Night of Glory IV, LAW's biggest pay-per-view of the year, taking on the Queens of Wrestling in a battle that not only saw the Angels retain but officially break the record for the longest-reigning tag team champions in the company's history. At LAW #75, the Angels took on the Naughty Girls (Katalina Star & Jessika Hyde) and won via count-out while Hyde was checking on the state of her partner.
By the time LAW closed its doors in April of 2018, Zoey and Farrah had been champions for over 420 days and maintained an undefeated streak for the entirety of their reign. As a result, they were in the final class of inductees into the LAW Hall of Fame, retiring from LAW with the titles.
Wild Side Wrestling
Zoey signed to compete with Wild Side Wrestling on April 16th, 2017, nicknaming herself "Wild Mage of the Wild Side" and heavily promoting the fledgling company. As part of the championship tournament, Zoey defeated Lauren Murphy in her first and only WSW match. Backstage and business details came to light soon after the company's first show, leading to it shutting down.
Rose City Wrestling
On December 14th, 2017, Zoey and Farrah signed with Rose City Wrestling as the Boardwalk Angels. They made their in-ring debut just after the start of the new year in a four-way match for the tag championships against the Beautification Movement, the Bitch Squad and Serenity Forbes & Paula P. The champions retained via pinfall over Paula P. On the January 8th Rose City Weekly, they defeated Sign of the Cross via pinfall, at which point the owner of Rose City Fed announced them as the number one contenders to the Rose City Tag Team Championships at Chapter 12 to take place on January 28th. At Chapter 12, they challenged the Beautification Movement (Julianna Mendoza & Milana Radek) for the tag team championships and won via disqualification when Mendoza struck Farrah with a chair. Rose City Weekly on February 5th saw them take on the new number one contenders to the tag titles, Elizzy (Eliza Coheed & Izzy Van Doren) and come away with the victory.
In their next opportunity, Zoey and Farrah captured the tag titles, making them dual champions as they were still reigning as World Tag Team Champions in LAW. However, after the Angels' first loss ever as a team, ending a winning streak spread over two companies and lasting over 450 days, Red Oktober became the new Rose City Tag Team Champions and Farrah, in an unexpected rage, attacked Zoey. Given a concussion, a broken nose, a broken leg and a damaged knee and ankle, Zoey was put out of action indefinitely and has yet to return to the ring.
Galatic Women's Wrestling/Southern Rebellion Wrestling
Soon after her return from injury, Zoey signed with Galactic Women's Wrestling, challenging the newly-crowned Ursula Von Rossbach for her Cosmic Championship. The two feuded for several weeks until the first Galactic pay-per-view where Zoey defeated Ursula in a close match to become the Cosmic Champion. She made a number of defenses before the company folded. It returned after a brief hiatus as Southern Rebellion Wrestling, the Cosmic Championship renamed the Queen of the South Championship, still possessed by Zoey. She has again defended the title and at Star Crash will be facing Ursula once again in a rematch for the title. Zoey triumphed over Ursula in a brutal Hell in a Cell match and now looks forward to her next challenge.
HYBRID Wrestling
Zoey also signed with HYBRID's Unleashed brand post-injury, facing several of the company's best over her first several months to some moderate success.
Foxy Boxing
As part of Foxy Boxing, Zoey reigned for a few months as the Kit Kat Championship, defeating Amanda Cortez for the belt but eventually dropping it to Susan Rigger due to outside interference. At the recent SuperCard, she faced off with Fleet Champion Susan Jackson and defeated her after twelve rounds to become the new champion.
Known Associations[]
Farrah Cornett

Farrah Martell
Zoey's oldest and dearest friend from back home in New Jersey. At one point, Farrah did the video and photography work for Zoey's on-screen promos but decided that she wanted to step into the ring with her friend as a tag team when Zoey signed on to LAW. Along with her wrestling responsibilities, Farrah has a degree in videography and is a self-trained photographer. Like Zoey, she is also well-versed in dance and gymnastics. Unlike her fellow Boardwalk Angel, she is also a black belt in aikido, works as Executive of Television and Internet with Cornett Enterprises and is in the process of putting together her first CD with a Cornett subsidiary, Transcontinental Records. She often refers to herself as the "dark half" of the Boardwalk Angels due to her quick temper and fierce disposition. After her brutal beating of Zoey after they lost the Rose City Tag Team Champions, she went on a tear of her own before quietly retiring. Zoey hid herself away for several months, but shortly after her return she and Farrah mended fences.
Katalina Star

Katalina Star
A skilled wrestler and professional Domina, Katalina and Zoey met during their shared tenure in VoW, which led to a relationship which saw them become engaged after several months and married in March of 2017. Independently wealthy, Katalina owns a number of businesses in Malibu, California alongside her private business pursuits. At times, she and Zoey appear to be a divergent couple based on their personalities and tastes, but there is a great deal of love and respect between them even despite clashes in the ring. Katalina's daughter, Makayla, was adopted by Zoey shortly after their marriage.
Courtney Leinart

Courtney Leinart
Another friend from back home, Courtney is perhaps the most accomplished of the Boardwalk Angels, having held several titles over multiple companies. The self-proclaimed "Platinum Angel" is every bit as verbose as Farrah and brings a certain style and attitude to the group.
Crystal Hilton

Crystal Hilton
The newest member of the team, Crystal was saved from an assault upon her by Guilty Pleasures by the Boardwalk Angels and, over time, befriended and in turn became a part of the group. Her first formal appearance with them as a unit happening at LAW #62 during a pre-show confrontation.
James "Jimmy" Makowski

James Makowski
Zoey's, and now the Boardwalk Angels', personal agent who tends to the details of all of the team's promotional events and other pursuits, including Zoey's stage performances and Farrah's concerts. He had worked with Zoey for several years before her getting into wrestling professionally and followed her there to ensure that someone always had her back and looked out for her best interests. Though he does not accompany her to the ring, he is often backstage at her shows and always quick to offer support and advice.
Vincenzo Ragetti

Vincenzo Ragetti
Zoey and Farrah's wrestling trainer, who also had a hand in training Courtney. A former full-time wrestler who runs the Sicilian Empire Wrestling School outside Trenton, New Jersey. He is affectionately referred to by his students as "Boss". A twenty-plus year veteran of the sport, he carries a lot of pride for how well Zoey turned out after her time at his school.
Jessamine Jordan

Jessamine Jordan
A lawyer with considerable expertise in the entertainment industry who is retained by the Boardwalk Angels as referred to them by James Makowski to handle any legal matters regarding their work in and out of wrestling. A gruff, serious woman who takes her work very seriously, she was at first skeptical of the Angels, though upon meeting them she decided that they were serious and took up the job as their attorney.
