Xtreme Championship Wrestling was a Canadian wrestling federation that was run by President Oklahoma. It is famous for being sick and twisted and for it's adult rated content. It began in April 1999 and increased in popularity untill closing for good in October 2002.
It was also famous for having it own farm league, Amateur Championship Wrestling which trained raw wrestlers and provided a constant stream of talent to the federation.
Creation[]
XCW was created in 1999 and came to prominence when several big name SWO wrestlers such as TITAN, Kaine Salvo, Steam, NBK, Syko Arsonist and Syn decided to join a small time newly created indie federation called XCW. The federation was aimed to rival SWO as the six wanted a fresh challenge. However it would close after just a couple a months. It would then reopen with a new president in a charge, President Oklahoma.
Downfall, Revival and Final Closure[]
XCW was going from strength to strength but dark clouds were on the horizon. It's farm league ACW was thriving and it's shows were rivalling XCW in viewing figures, so much so that some ACW stars did not want to get promoted to XCW. However ACW was increasingly becoming a financial burden and was becoming difficult to run. As a result of this President Oklahoma decided to change and rebrand ACW. It was renamed to XTC (Xtreme Training Centre) and the identity of the farm league would be more closer to that of XCW. Disagreeing with this rebranding the ACW's president Ty Dhomie would walk out and quit. In turn he formed the CanAm Wrestling Alliance and brought almost the entire ACW roster with him as well as most of the XCW roster. As a result the XCW had few wrestlers and was forced to close.
An XCW allaince would then turn up in SWO, lead by TITAN the alliance featured many XCW stars such as Joe Leonard, Blake Lane, Shadow, Dustin Masterson, Romeo Trask and Marquis Of Sade and they would eventually be joined by ex-XCW and current SWO wrestler Syko Arsonist.
The XCW alliance would revive interest in the federation and this conincided with CAW folding. After public pressure the XCW would reopen it's door. All the members of the XCW alliance returned and they were joined by ex-XCW wrestlers The Boss, Gaf and Suicide. The most suprising returnee was Ty Dhomie who had been blamed by many for being XCW's downfall when he had previosly lead the roster away from XCW to CWA. Many wrestlers targeted him for ruining their career.
However, XCW would close after a month due to wrestlers no showing.
