The WWE Women's World Championship is a Women's Professional Wrestling Championship created and defended on WWE. It is a Amalgamation of the now defunct RAW and Smackdown Women's Championships which were unified in 2021 at Armageddon main event between the final champions, RAW Women's Champion Asuka and Smackdown Women's Champion Sasha Banks.
History[]
Following their respective victories at Summerslam where both women would win their respective titles, then RAW Women's Champion Asuka and Smackdown Women's Champion Sasha Banks would have a match between each other at that year's Survivor Series. Making sure it would happen after Asuka defeated Charlotte at Evolution III and Sasha defeating Bayley and Codi Nicole in a triple threat match However, both would be counted out after both went through the Spanish Announce Table following a Superplex through said table. Due to a lack on competition on both brands, both women were content on settling the score with each other. Claiming that they were the better champion. The insults and call-outs would inevitably turn into sneak attacks and invading each other's respective brands, initiating brawls everywhere they fought. The RAW and Smackdown GM's Mick Foley and Molly Holly would have enough of it and announce on the November 26th crowd on Smackdown that the two champions will face each other in a title unification match at the December 12th, 2021 PPV, Armageddon. Following a pre-match assault by Sasha Banks' new faction, Money Inc. backstage, Sasha Banks would walk out as the Inaugural champion after a 45 minute classic. Even with a injured Asuka.
Sasha and Money Inc. would move to RAW as the recently unveiled WWE Women's Openweight Championship would slowly become the blue brand's main women's title as the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships were still being contested on both brands, along with NXT. Since then, only 7 champions would be crowned with the current champion being 2023 Royal Rumble Winner, Bianca Belair after defeating previous champion, Charlotte Flair, who won the title at the No Way Out PPV inside of a Elimination Chamber match, at Wrestlemania 39 Night 1. Bianca is also the only woman alongside Sasha to win the title twice as she previously won the belt at the 2022 Summerslam PPV.
