The Valhalla Burial Match was a match created in Global Impact Wrestling.

Rules[]

An artificial river takes the place of the ramp and leads from the base of the ring to the backstage area. To win, you must place your opponent in a wooden boat tethered to the ring and send them floating "into the afterlife" which is achieved by the boat floating backstage. The boat has axes and swords inside it.

History[]

The first ever Valhalla Burial Match occured in Global Impact Wrestling at No Holds Barred: Rising Sun and determined the new #1 contender to the Global Championship. In it, Donovan Hastings defeated "The Monster" Dredd. The finish of the match saw Hastings throwing Dredd in the boat and covering him with a blanket, and then lighting the blanket on fire before sending it down the river and backstage.

The gimmick returned at No Holds Barred in 2013. Jet Somers defended the UGWC World Heavyweight Championship against Eden Morgan, but lost the title after an error in judgement left him prone and Morgan was able to send him down the river.

It would appear once more at No Holds Barred in 2016, when Mil Vidas Jr defeated Dante Picante to win the UGWC Chaos Championship.
