Inception[]

Ultimate Championship Wrestling {UCW} first opened it's doors in June 2005 under the management of Jody Bash. Since it's original creation UCW has experienced it's fair share of piques and troughs, being forced to temporarily shut it's doors on more than one occasion and build again from the ground up, though through all the upheaval a core group of performers have remained loyal.

First Run[]

Gold Rush I[]

After getting his creation off the ground, owner Jody Bash set about quickly building up a roster to compete in what would be UCW's first ever event, the Gold Rush tournament. When the show finally arrived it kicked off UCW with a bang, names like Ken Marshal, Stardust, Joey Johnson and Steven 'Ace' Marlay battled unsuccessfully to get the gold, with Maynard eventually triumphing in the final, over Tommy DeWitt, Miss Conduct and Mike Mahoney to be crowned the first every UCW World Heavyweight Champion. Mahoney received the Intercontinental title for his efforts in finishing runner-up of the event, while Team XFC (Ultiman and Machine) won a tag team turmoil match to capture the UCW tag titles.

Monday Night Mayhem[]

From Gold Rush UCW progressed to it's weekly television show Mayhem, broadcast on Monday nights. It was aptly named in those early days, with a series of high octane brawls taking center stage. Maynard defended his World title against Ken Marshal in a tables match in the main event of the first ever Mayhem, coming through to win after hitting hit Maynstrosity to Marshal through a table. Another classic Mayhem moment was to follow soon after, having left the company Mike Mahoney's Intercontinental title was left vacated and put up for grabs in a triple threat match on the July 25th episode of Mayhem. 'Ace' Stephen Marlay triumphed over Greggy Blaxland and Joey Johnson, with some help from Ken Marshal, to earn a well deserved run with the belt. As August arrived a new title was added to accomodate the growth in UCW's roster, Adam Flash became the first ever Hardcore champion and went on to take part in a bitter and brutal feud with Tommy DeWitt that would take them to the Heatwave PV, where they would compete in a stretcher match with the belt on the line.

Mayhem's first couple of months also saw a series of highly praised matches between two different groups, while World title hopefuls Miss Conduct, Joey Johnson and Ken Marshal had a constant game of one-upmanship with Maynard, the upper-mid card was throwing up some terrific matches with the likes of Noah Hanson, Doctor Ian, Lone Wolf and Super eXtreme (Dillen Jaymes, Jake Madrix and Mike Bibby) setting the place alight, this is an oft-forgotten period in UCW history where perhaps the under card was even stronger than the main event at the time.

Heatwave[]

Though it was impossible to tell at the time, Heatwave was to be UCW's last PPV for over 12 months. It was quite a show to go out on, with four titles changing hands during the night. Firstly Tommy DeWitt decisively came out on top in his long running rivalry with Andrew Flash, winning the stretcher match and becoming the new Hardcore champion. William Wallace meanwhile chalked up a win for Scotland over England, defeating Steven 'Ace' Marlay for the Intercontinental title. Marlay's night was only just getting started however, as later in the evening he sensationally turned on UCW to join forces with the invading GWA members, capturing the tag team titles with GWA World champion, Jason Stryker. UCW's own world title was defended in a four way, 60 minute Iron man match. Maynard, Miss Conduct, Joey Johnson and Ken Marshal we're tied at the end of the hour, forcing the match into over time where Johnson grabbed the win courtesy of a Maynstrosity on Ken Marshal.

GWA[]

Following Marlay's defection, Danny Royal announced his intention to face Jody Bash at the next PPV to decide the fate of UCW and the GWA, a winner takes all affair between the owners was scheduled. Joey Johnson was also penciled in to fight Jason Stryker to unite to two heavyweight straps. The two companies fought back and forth throughout the build up, with long time rivals Marshal and Johnson even briefly joining forces in the name of UCW. Eventually the grand showdown never happened, UCW closing it's doors before the event could go ahead, but the rivalry did provide Mayhem with one of it's picture book moments. Having just been defeated by Johnson in what Bash coined a UCW 'dream match' Steven Marlay spectacularly lost it with Jason Stryker and shook hands with Johnson in the middle of the ring, signaling his return to UCW's side and cementing his place in the companies history.

Billy Joe Junior[]

After 12 months on the sidelines, UCW was finally re-opened by in his own words, a fat viagra loving Texan called Billy Joe Junior. BJB, as he was affectionately coined by the roster in later times, set about recruiting most of the roster from UCW's previous incarnation and even succeeded in convincing Doctor Ian to return to the company after The Doc had left under a cloud last time round. This would prove to be one of the Texan's shrewdest signings in the long-term and also led to the signing of Ian's twin brother, Greg Venom. To add to the glut of returning talent a number of new additions were made, with notable debutants at UCW's first Mayhem show since returning including Annie Alvarez, Wayne Don and Joe Chambers. Others would soon follow suit as the re-opening gathered momentum, Max Roach, Dax Violent, Daemon Hawk and Rayne Young just some of the more memorable names of the many who signed with UCW in order to join Bill Joe Junior's revolution.

Redemption[]

UCW's first big event under Billy Joe was to be it's Redemption pay per view. A stacked card featured six high quality matches, headlined by Joey Johnson defending his World title against the wild Wayne Don. They'd fought back and forth for weeks in the run up to the match, Wayne Don leaving Johnson to fend for himself in a tag match against the formidable team of BROS (Doctor Ian and Greg Venom) then attacking Johnson after his inevitable loss in what was effectively a handicap match. The challenger appeared to have the match won when after an age of brutal punishment Johnson lost consciousness. However after his failure to release the hold despite being asked numerous times the referee reversed the decision and Joey kept his title, with Wayne Don leaving UCW not long after, being deemed too unstable to compete. The Intercontinental title was also on the line, Morbius defended his newly won belt against Doctor Ian and upset the odds somewhat to win. He was however helped somewhat following interference by Daemon Hawk, who hadn't took too kindly to comments from the PhD carrying half of BROS relating to the tag titles, which coincidently Hawk won on the very same night. He and partner Jake Rage overcame the challenge of Golden Glory (Liam Hennigan and Stephen Morris) to win the vacant belts. Two more titles changed hands at Redemption, firstly Muhammed Rushdi defeated The Chambergod, Joe Chambers to become the first receipiant of the short-lived North American title. Rushi was to leave UCW under acrimonious circumstances not long after, vacating the title as he did. The Extreme title was also up for grabs in a match between Shawn 'Shaz' Reno and Jay Jackson. Shaz had been a apart of UCW during the previous regime and made his return to Mayhem with an emotional speech a couple of weeks beforehand, Jackson on the other hand was a new addition who has quietly gone about his business, impressing those in the know. The two contrived to put on a classic, with Reno finally coming out on top after a topsy-turvy encounter, though that was far from the last these two saw of each other. Lastly, though by no means least, Greg Venom took on Max Roach in another closely fought match that threatened to steal the show. Both men brought everything to the table, but Roach just had slightly more on the night and managed to edge out Greg and put himself right at the front of the queue for a shot at the world title.
