The Dead Precedents were a short-lived faction in Global Extreme Wrestling, a hardcore-oriented group opposed to Triple H's purist faction.

Pre-History[]

At Winter Bash 2007, Triple H and Jeff Hardy returned to GEW to interrupt the main event ladder match between reigning GEW World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and Kameron Chase. After a brief stand-off, the four men would declare themselves allied with the common goal of excising hardcore match types from the promotion.

The Hardcore Rebellion[]

Nic Williams had been working two matches a night for the past couple of weeks, one as The Gentleman, one as Phreak, including hardcore matches against both Rhys Matterson and Troy Gafgen. On the second episode of GEW Chaos following BaY-B Dogg would make her return to GEW to challenge her former tag team partner Williams over whether he was "A gentleman or a phreak." The pair would be scheduled to face each other in a non-hardcore singles match. However, when the match occured, they insisted on fighing in a hardcore style, successively challenging each other to take more and more violent weapon shots. The referee disqualified both Dogg and Williams, and attempted to stop them from continuing to fight, but they laid him out and held an impromptu, unsanctioned hardcore match. Bailey ran down to the ring in a referee's shirt to 'officiate' the match, while Matterson accompanied her to keep Triple H's security guards from reaching the ring. Troy Gafgen would emerge to aid Matterson shortly thereafter. Following the match, which Williams won, all five would stand together in the ring

Opposition[]

Triple H welcomed his old friend and rival Shawn Michaels onto the show as his latest anti-hardcore follower, but Michaels responded by knocking out Triple H with Sweet Chin Music and declaring that he would support the hardcore wrestlers. He was from this point considered an ally of The Dead Precedents, but was never formally considered a member. Michaels would feud with Triple H for overall dominance between the factions, while Williams feuded with Orton over the GEW World Heavyweight Championship. However, neither deciding match would come to pass; the championship match was called off due to an Orton family emergency (Williams would lose a rematch to then-champion Kameron Chase some months later) while Chase used the stable war as a distraction to assume control of GEW as General Manager. His first act was to fire both Triple H and Shawn Michaels. He reintroduced hardcore matches, the net result being that the angle was effectively over.

Fallout[]

Williams and Dogg would remain allies, and Dogg would also align herself with Chase. Matterson went on to feud with, and then team with, Extreme Chaos Champion Glenn Legend. He failed to win the singles title, but the pair won the GEW Tag Team Championship under the name The Damned, feuding with Sah'ta Thor's Empire of Blood. Gafgen would also feud with Legend over the Extreme Chaos Championship, again to no avail, and be both a member and enemy of the Empire, which later numbered Dogg among its ranks. Gafgen and Matterson were considered enemies by default, while Bailey feuded with the Empire's GEW Women's Champion Velvet Grey. All five have continued to fight hardcore matches, though none would retain any association with Shawn Michaels upon his return.
