The Scars of Wrestling Cup (formerly known as the Scars of Eagle Cup) is a match type that is held on every big time event (PPV and Wildcard) for the Women's Wrestling Alliance, that is owned by two time cup winner Danielle Lopez. It is widely known for being a signature match type in Premium Championship Wrestling. Prior to PCW's existence, it was held in YouTube Championship Wrestling. In character, the creator of the cup is Leo Hawkins, while out of character, Hawkins handler was the one who brought the unique concept alive.
Background[]
In the third episode of YCW's Monday Night Wrestling on YouTube, Leo Hawkins announced the creation of this cup. Due to the booking decisions mostly being made by Terrell Ryder in those times, Leo Hawkins showed his jovial, ready-to-party style, and announced "HIS own party" next week. Leo ran down the rules of this cup, and a week later the cup was won by Osiris.
Following the unification into PCW, Shannon Saint allowed this match to continue, since Leo Hawkins is the Executive Vice President of the branch. The series continues up until PCW closed the first time. With PCW returning, Terrell Ryder now the owner of the company, and Leo now a Talent Scout/Ambassador of the company. The cup will be retained with Leo being the head guy of the cup like it was originally slated to be. In WWA, Leo is once again the master of ceremonies for the cup.
Match[]
Rules[]
The match style is a no disqualification fatal four way or fatal five way. Once a wrestler is pinned or submitted, he is eliminated from the match and must exit the arena. The match continues until it is reduced to two wrestlers. The first wrestler to score a pinfall or submission then wins the Scars of Wrestling Cup.
Awards for winning a Scars of Wrestling Cup[]
This feature has changed a bit in both YCW and PCW days. With the match now taking place in the Women's Wrestling Alliance, the awards changed once again.
- One SoW Cup Victory - Trade it for a Tag Team Championship OR Trios Championship shot
- Two SoW Cups Victory - Trade it for a Television or Hardcore Championship shot
- Three SoW Cups Victory - Trade it for a World Championship shot.
Winners[]
So far, there have been fifteen winners of this match, Osiris being the winner of the only installment under the YCW banner. Heather Monroe is the only multiple time winner of the match and she is the first and only wrestler to reach three SoW Cups as she won the second, fifth and tenth editions of the cup. Other winners of the match include Viktor Orlov, Robert Gilmour, Danielle Lopez, Seamus O'Reilly, Ryan Welfare, Kevin Styles and Nightrain. The cup has caused past winners to become a success in the company, example being Osiris going on to win the PCW Broadcast Championship without using his Scars of Wrestling Cup victory. Danielle Lopez won the PCW World Heavyweight and Broadcast Championship without using her Scars of Wrestling Cup victory, and Heather Monroe also winning the PCW World Heavyweight Championship, the PCW Broadcast Championship on two occasions and the PCW World Tag Team Championship without using her Scars of Wrestling Cup victories. Even already prominent stars like Kevin Styles has won the Scars of Wrestling Cup.
Yoshiru Long won the final installment for PCW, while Kate Steele won the first cup under the WWA banner. Mya Denton is the first wrestler to compete in both WWA and PCW versions of the cup.
