Sarah Smith (born November 6, 1983) is an English recording artist and songwriter. She rose to fame in 2007 through YouTube when her cover of 'The Rose' received over one million views. She was invited to join girl-group Indifferent, which she accepted and went on to achieve two UK number one, and eight top ten, singles before being kicked out of the group in 2012.
Smith is now a solo artist, and has had three UK number one singles since January 2013. She started an argument with her former bandmates on Twitter after their newest single outsold her's and prevented it from being number one. Smith's first single, "Regrets", topped 500,000 sales in the UK and was the number one single in several countries such as the USA, Australia and Germany.
Personal life[]
Sarah was born in Worcester, England and is the oldest of three children. One of her two sisters, Jessica Anderson, is a model and professional wrestling valet.
Solo Career[]
Sarah was kicked out of Indifferent in 2012 after months of physically abusing her band mates. She decided to continue as a solo-artist and released her début single. The single, titled "Regrets", went on to become the second-biggest selling single of 2012. She then released her first studio album, Sx2, which incorporated aspects of hip-hop, receiving a mixed reception. "In the Hood" was her second single. The song was her first hip-hop track, which some deemed as a "stroke of genius".
