Prime Wrestling League (PWL) or PRIME as its more commonly called is an American professional wrestling promotion based out of Chicago, Illinois.
History[]
Founding and early days[]
The Prime Wrestling League was originally founded in 2008 and was run by Prime Promotions under the control of sports entrepreneur Baxter Mills. PWL achieved little success and Baxter Mills cut his ties with the company a few months after its inception. Losing their funding the company went into limbo and lost many of their top stars forcing them to close their doors. However PWL did manage to keep itself afloat in some form by running small independent shows across the country.
New management and rebranding[]
This all changed in 2010 when PWL was purchased by Jomei Yamagata and rebranded as PRIME. Yamagata injected a huge amount of cash into the company which allowed them to start producing a fortnightly television show on the BIG Network called PRIMAL.
