Premium Championship Wrestling was an e-federation that was created in July of 2010 as a result of a merger between YouTube Championship Wrestling and Inferno Championship Wrestling after Shannon Saint bought both companies from their respective owners. On June 26, 2011. The company's first run came to an end, but not without one last event, called Cataclysm. On April 27, 2012, it was confirmed that the company is coming back with a complete overhaul in management. New owner of the company (Terrell Ryder) as well as a new General Manager (James Baker). The first show under this new era took place on May 12, 2012. On October 12th, 2013, the company folded again, this time at Anarchy after seventeen straight months of operation.

History

How PCW came about

Shannon "The Saint" Saint, color commentator for YCW's programming, grew weary of the way this promotion was being treated. Seeing that he had plenty of money, as much as each of the owners of the company, he began brewing a backstage plan to take the company over. In the short span of a month, Shannon started purchasing the contracts of many YCW and ICW wrestlers, offering salaries higher than the ones they were getting and better conditions. However, Eric Redgate, locker room legend, had heard of these plans and was about to spoil the entire scheme, but Shannon did all he could to take him out, including buying out The Dark Scorpions' contracts, who were Eric's long-time sidekicks, to turn on him and beat him down. By Battle Finale, the night where he was going to make the huge announcement, Shannon had already purchased 86% of the YouTube Championship Wrestling contracts and 95% of the Inferno Championship Wrestling contracts.

For the 11th of July, YCW and ICW decided to work as one. First, Inferno Championship Wrestling held an important PPV show, billed ICW Summertime Smash. And then, later on the evening, YCW held what they billed as the flagship show, Battle Finale. During Summertime Smash, nobody suspected what was to come, but, during Battle Finale, some hints were spread. Shannon Saint left the table after the first match, claiming he had to take care of business. Before the Leon Lonewolf versus Shaggy "Mr. 420" ladder match, Leon claimed he had "something he wouldn't and couldn't lose" in the briefcase. Shaggy eventually did win the match due to a fluke, and read out loud that Leon was selling his ICW/YCW contracts to Cyanide Sports Network. Before the owner of such enterprise was revealed, Leon attacked Shaggy, and looked nervous throughout the entire night. Plus, when returning, to the announce table, Shannon said to replacement announcer TJ Greenaway, "Stick with me, kid, and you'll be reaching for the stars." When the end of the night finally came, Shannon announced his full purchasing of ICW and YCW, along with the merciless firing of Eric Redgate, with whom he was supposed to have a Career vs Career match with.

PCW's First Run (July, 2010 - June, 2011)

With these two companies unified, Premium Championship Wrestling was formed. Shannon Saint quickly nailed a broadcasting contract with Versus, and replaced the two one-hour shows the promotions were holding to one two-hour show named Thursday Night Rapture (later named Saturday Night Rapture due to their move to a Saturday night time slot on the Showtime network) with the product being rated TV-MA to cater to the adult fans who were tired of the ridiculous PG wrestling promotions that are normally on the airwaves. Due to the fame of the wrestlers involved, the bigger and more star-studded roster, and the overall quality of the show, Rapture is watched by nearly five million viewers each week, and sells around 15,000 to 20,000 tickets for all events, numbers incredibly higher than both previous companies combined.

Days before Alma Mater Diem, Premium Championship Wrestling decided to have talent cuts. As of result, they released a number of aging veterans who were not drawing any interest from the fans. The reason for those releases were because they were huge nuisance's backstage by playing politics to keep themselves on the top while preventing the younger talent from going into the main event. The events were the same type of stuff that went down in the Classic Wrestling Federation, where a lot of the PCW core talent were when an incident known as the "Liftoff Debacle" went down. At Alma Mater Diem, the aging veterans lost their matches to the younger talent and officially departed to make their own federation, which proved to be a huge failure a few weeks later.

The Rapture after the pay-per-view saw plenty of new talent debut, but more importantly, the younger guys were finally given a chance to shine and they did just that by putting on great matches for every fan to see. The most dramatic rises of younger talent to the forefront have been Draven Logan Kennedy and Israel Steele who prior to AMD were not gaining the momentum needed to success due to the backstage politics by the aging veterans, but once the talent cuts were made, they instantly found their niche and are two of the more successful stars in the company right now, proving that they do have the ability to be successful when given the opportunity.

For a good portion of the time after the talent cuts, all of PCW's champions were between the ages of twenty-one to thirty, proving that the youth movement and Golden Era has been proved a success. Also during this era, PCW has gained some other notable talent. Young talent like Rocky Davis, the Lost Boys and "The Bruiser" Rhysus have graced PCW, as well as former CWF World Heavyweight Champion and CWF Unified Champion Yoshiru Long being revealed to be a member of the roster and former multiple time World Champion and CWF Hall of Famer "The Ruler" Paul Blair signed on with PCW as well. Giving PCW two Hall of Fame caliber from the CWF.

On the day of Shellshock, there was a very publicized situation brewing backstage. A wrestler by the named of Disturbed made some unflattering remarks about another member of the roster, making some homophobic comments towards them. Along with suffering an injury at the hands of Johnny Scumm, Disturbed was released from his contract. Days later, reports surfaced that then PCW Brawl Champion The Demolition Man was facing charges of Child Molestation and that he would be serving the rest of his life in prison if convicted. PCW Management agreed to let him drop the title on the May 7th edition of Rapture. Four days after the show, it was confirmed that his contract was terminated. Those two situations, along with the shady antics of the network, PCW officially moved from MyWrestlingNetwork and formed it's very own network Premium Television Network. It even gained its own developmental territory as it announced a partnership with Wrestling Kings Federation, a federation that PCW once feuded with, but have come to peace with (that partnership was short-lived). PCW was shut down for a brief time, effective after Cataclysm on June 26th, 2011.

PCW's Second Run (May, 2012 - October, 2013)

After the spinoff company Premium Women's Wrestling shut its doors. There were questions as to what Terrell Ryder would do next. There were rumors about PCW coming back, and on a special commercial for the Premium Television Network, Terrell and James Baker all but guaranteed that they would be running a wrestling company together, and even hinted that PCW could be revived but there is no timetable on finding out whether a revival of PCW is for real or if it's just a rumor. On April 22nd, 2012, more was confirmed during an interview with the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Both Baker and Ryder made it clear that it was a guarantee that PCW was coming back, but they did not specify when exactly it would return or what plans there are for the revival of the organization, but Baker did state that it would be a bit more... extreme! This particular stint would be commonly referenced by fans as the "Revival Era".

On April 25th, 2012 at exactly 11:20 PM (Central time), more excerpts were taken out of the Sunday morning interview, and it was confirmed that PCW would be back. Following the announcement, numerous amount of talent, both former PCW'ers and those who are new to the company all together, decided to come back. On May 9, 2012, PCW released it's official events schedule that is for up until Battle Finale III with most of the events taking place in the United States, but some will take place in Canada. On May 12th, 2012, PCW had it's first show in almost eleven months as Rapture took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. It saw both Michael Morrison and Draven Logan Kennedy retain their status' as PCW World Champion and Platinum Champion respectably.

The first pay-per-view under The Revival Era was titled Slamathon III, and it proved to be a major success. PCW in general will have four pay-per-view events and two Wrestle Extravaganza events per calender year. Also in this era, PCW has been doing more business deals with other federations than they did in the first run. Having affiliations with World Elite Wrestling, the Apex Superstar Alliance and graphic's phenomenon, FB18. Within time, PCW made more affiliations, documented places like the Internet Wrestling Federation, Internet Championship Wrestling, eWrestling Nexus, and Apex Pro Wrestling among others. This stint was deemed a success as it resulted in the biggest buyrates in company history and highest ratings for Saturday Night Rapture. It was a successful seventeen months of operation as the company closed its doors for a second time on October 12th, 2013.

Reunion Shows (2014 - Present)

Seven months after the second closure of the company, it was announced that PCW would be having a Reunion Show, a special televised show like the Wrestle Extravaganza series. For one night only, stars from PCW's first and second runs would be featured in highly contested match ups. The Reunion Show took place, with the main event featuring Danielle Lopez defeating Talia Skye and Heather Monroe in a dream match to retain the PCW World Heavyweight Championship. Since then, there was some Tweets about an idea that PCW had, but nothing has come of it as of yet.

Match Types

Like it's predecessor, Premium Championship Wrestling brings some unique match types, but with more variety due to the bigger roster that it gained with the merger.

Here is the complete list of match types that the company employs.

  • Fate of the Gods Deathmatch - Creator: Leon Lonewolf

This match upwas introduced on the December 22nd, 2013 edition of Saturday Night Rapture and plans on being a yearly tradition for PCW going forward. - OOC: Created by Jessie Stolberg (handler of Yoshiru Long)

Working Relationships/Affiliates

Wrestling Kings Federation

For a time, Premium Championship Wrestling had a working agreement with Wrestling Kings Federation, having them as a developmental company. This relationship lasted for a brief while, but the ties between them were severed when it was revealed that the owner of the federation kept trying to make PCW stars look bad on purpose and ruin their credibility.

FB18

On May 11th, 2012. Premium Championship Wrestling gained it's first affiliate since WKF as FB18 was named an affiliate of theirs. FB18 is a graphic's site that is meant to bring the world of wrestling together. PCW has been quoted as saying that "they are proud to be affiliated with a great place like FB18" and the OOC owner (James Baker) stated that he would personally recommend the place for anybody looking to get GFX work done.

JOB Wrestling

JOB Wrestling is a parody federation that has been on again, off again since 2009. The booker of JOB Wrestling does business with Terrell Ryder and some of the old JOB shows broadcast on the Premium Television Network.

Pride Wrestling

Pride Wrestling (formerly known as the Premium Academy) is a developmental center for PCW. Originally supposed to be launched in 2010, but it never got to happen after PCW cut the aging veterans from the roster in what is now called "The Alma Mater Diem Incident". But in the company's second run, it was launched. It is owned and operated by Charles Jackson while SJ Funk and PCW Hall of Famers Mariano Fernandez and Danielle Lopez serve as the trainers. Every Pride Wrestling show airs on the Premium Television Network while the company itself serves as an independent promotion.

World Elite Wrestling

On May 16th, 2012. It was confirmed that Premium Championship Wrestling came to terms on an affiliation with World Elite Wrestling. While details are unknown whether this is just an affiliation deal or if there's more to come... it is also interesting to know that WEW talent do share friendships with PCW Hall-of-Famer Danielle Lopez via Twitter and away from the ring.

Internet Wrestling Federation

On May 21st, 2012. It was confirmed that Premium Championship Wrestling added another affiliate to its lineup, this time affiliating with the Internet Wrestling Federation, which has been open since March 2011. Details are unknown whether it's just an affiliation or if there's more to come of it.

Internet Championship Wrestling

On June 29th, 2012. It was confirmed that Premium Championship Wrestling came to terms on an affiliation with Internet Championship Wrestling, who re-opened their doors in August 2011, but have history dating back to 2001.

Apex Pro Wrestling

PCW has also come to terms with an affiliation with Apex Pro Wrestling. APW is founded and ran by PCW handler Wearedoomed. Both parties expressed excitement at the possibility of this affiliations, even quotes as saying "nothing but good things will come of this partnership".
