The National Internet Wrestling Alliance (NIWA) is a fantasy professional wrestling promotion. Mr. C.C. is the sole owner, CEO, and president. The headquarters for the promotion is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
NIWA's business focus is on professional wrestling, a simulated sport that consists of wrestling combined with acting and theater. It is currently one of the largest professional wrestling promotions in Canada with plans to expand globally outside North America
History[]
Origins[]
In May of 2008, Mr. C.C. wanted to start another promotion after having moderate success with his previous promotions. Mr. C.C. scouted undiscovered and the best talent during May and June of 2008. Thus a roster of men and women was assembled.
Summer 2008[]
June saw the first event for the NIWA entitled Beach Wars which was a three-day event in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It was there that the tournament to crown the first NIWA World Heavyweight Championship was started. The tournament continued through July and the event Hot As Hell. Zangief and "007" James Bond were the two men that made their way through the tournament. The finals of the tournament were held at Summer Stampede in a Ladder Match at General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. With help from The Security (Steve Wilkos and Blade), Zangief was able to climb the ladder and pull down the NIWA World Heavyweight Championship thus becoming the first champion in company history.
Fall 2008[]
During the fall of 2008, Mr. C.C. announced that a new championship would be created. The NIWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship announced as that new championship. At Hardcore Halloween a Gauntlet Match was the match used to determine the first champion. Peter Pan pinned Bobby Flay to become the first-ever NIWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. Other participants in the match were Chris Crocker, Cosmo Kramer, Luke Skywalker, Blitz, Aladdin, Prince Of Persia, Spider-Man, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Terrell Owens, Clarence "Coffee Black" Withers, E.Z. Saved, and Eminem.
Hiatus and return[]
From November 2008 to February 2009, the NIWA went a hiatus. The re-emergence of the company proved to be successful. The first supershow back was Night of Death. It was at Night of Death in which the NIWA crowned Sonya Blade as the first NIWA World Women's Champion. Blade defeated Sheik for the newly created championship.
Partnership with Extreme Madness Wrestling[]
In the spring of 2009, the National Wrestling Alliance entered into a partnership with Extreme Madness Wrestling (EMW). This partnership allowed superstars from both the NIWA and EMW rosters to make appearances on both companies' shows. The first co-promoted show was EMW/NIWA Disturbing the Peace which was on June 10, 2009 from Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. A second event co-promoted between the two promotions was EMW/NIWA Supreme Showdown. The event feature interpromotional and non-interpromotional matches. The interpromotional matches counted towards the score for the respective promotion and the promotion with the most points would be awarded the Supreme Showdown Cup. In the end, EMW would take the Supreme Showdown Cup with a score of 2-1 The two events proved successful and more co-promoted events would be in the works for the future.
Second hiatus and return[]
From January 8, 2010 to May 31, 2010, the NIWA went another hiatus due to the owner writing out the storylines and doing the shows late. So, "Mr. WrestleMania" JTH got permission from the boss to take over to write the show, etc. for the time being. The first supershow back was Annualversary II. Since it returns, the NIWA hasn't lost the popularity it lost previously had.
June 5, 2010 marked the debut of the weekly Saturday show entitle Saturday Night Showdown. To date, the NIWA has produced 181 episodes.
Third hiatus[]
Due to the strained relationship between EMW and NIWA, it looks like NIWA is now in hiatus at the time being and nobody knows where NIWA will show up in the upcoming future.
