The Lords of Pain Wrestling (LPW) World Heavyweight Championship is a professional e-wrestling championship. Currently, it is the highest ranked championship on the Insanity brand of Lords of Pain Wrestling.

History

The LPW World Heavyweight Championship was originally called the PWA World Heavyweight Championship when LPW was named the Psychotic Wrestling Alliance (PWA). Created in the spring of 2003, the title was the top championship in the organization.

The first-ever World Heavyweight Champion was Marty, who won the title at Annihilation, the promotion's first pay-per-view. Marty won the title in a tournament final over Phantom Lord in a steel cage match.

In 2004, PWA management decided to split the rosters into separate brands, respectively named Schizophrenia (now Insanity) and Pyromania (now Inferno). The World Heavyweight Championship stayed on the flagship Schizophrenia brand, while the newly created Pyromania brand created their own World championship, naming it the PWA International Heavyweight Championship.

The longest-reigning champion and only person to hold the title on multiple occasions is SoL. He defeated Villiano 187 for his first World Championship at the Resolutions pay-per-view, a reign which eventually became the longest reign in the title's history. During his time as World Heavyweight Champion, SoL was also the first man to win the prestigious Martinez Cup, which matches the World Heavyweight Champion against the International Heavyweight Champion. SoL defeated Stone to claim the Cup at Altered Reality II.

At Altered Reality III, World Heavyweight Champion Pen defeated International Heavyweight Champion, D. Hammond Samuels. Because of its two Martinez Cup victories, many regard the World Heavyweight Championship as the most prestigious championship in Lords of Pain Wrestling.

In April 2007, due to a continuing dispute between PWA management, an agreement was reached to disband the PWA name from the LPW-produced promotion. As a result, the world title was officially renamed the LPW World Heavyweight Championship and defended on the renamed Insanity brand.

The current champion is X. He defeated cYnical on January 18, 2009 at the Honor Roll supershow from Hollywood, California.
