Hollywood Fight Club is a professional wrestling school located in the East Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The school was founded in 2010 by two married semi-retired wrestlers, Shawn Burke and Jackie Cruz. Upon opening, the school quickly entered into a working relationship with an area independent promotion, So Cal Pro, and the partnership is still in place.

History[]

In the early days of Cruz's career, Burke had aided with her training, which led to them dating and eventually marrying.

The school opened its doors in April 2010. The Burkes' best friends, Blake Stratten and Claire Archer, round out the group of four full-time head trainers. Years of forming friendships and industry connections have left them with an extensive roster of part-time and guest trainers to call on, which they call the "an invaluable asset" to the school.

Because of its successful students and location (i.e., in the district synonymous with the American entertainment industry), the school is a popular spot for filming and has been featured in several documentaries and news stories related to the wrestling industry.

Reputation[]

Known for its ongoing use of trainers who aren't brought in on a permanent basis, the school has had wrestlers trained in many different disciplines teaching wrestling techniques to its students. Pupils in advanced classes are exposed to facets of Lucha Libre, puroresu, submission, and hardcore wrestling, among others. This has led to the school having a reputation of sending "well-rounded" wrestlers out into the world. It is also known for being one of the more "female-friendly" schools in the business, due in large part to Cruz's influence. She remarks that, though wrestling will likely always be a male-dominated business, she hoped to turn it into "...the kind of school I would've liked to have at my disposal when I was starting out [in my career]." As such, many of the most notable alumni of the school are women.
