Hell on Earth 2005 was a pay-per-view held by Global Extreme Wrestling in early 2005, and was the last pay-per-view before that year's WrestleMania. Thanks to the GEW records fire, Hell on Earth 2005 is the first of only two GEW pay-per-view events from before May 2006 for which full records still exist.

History[]

GEW World Heavyweight Champion Triple H was feuding with GEW Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy over both titles. Triple H was aided by his Hidden Fears stable, numbering Edge, Christian, Undertaker and Eric Bischoff. Hardy was loosely aligned with Batista and The Rock, respectively feuding with Edge and Undertaker.

Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles were feuding with Ghost and Miguel Waterz.

The Event[]

The Rock vs. Undertaker carried the additional stipulation that if The Rock won, he would face Triple H at WrestleMania for whatever championships Triple H held. If Undertaker won, he would be allowed to hand-pick his WrestleMania opponent.

Todd Grisham interviewed The Rock before his match.

Before the main event, Triple and Undertaker appeared in a vignette in which they celebrated Triple H's earlier victory and Triple H asked Undertaker to make sure The Rock didn't interfere in the final match.

Results[]

  • Triple H won after recovering the title belt.
  • Batista interfered on behalf of Hardy and Edge interfered on behalf of Triple H.

  • Christopher Daniels def. Ghost, DXC and Californian in a fatl fourway match to win the GEW Inferno Championship.
  • Daniels pinned DXC following an Angel's Wings.
  • Californian was rushed to hospital after cracking his jaw on the ring apron, turning the match into a triple threat.
  • Daniels attacked Ghost after the match, throwing him into a casket, but was attacked in turn by Miguel Waterz, who emerged from said casket.

  • The Rock def. Undertaker.
  • The Rock pinned Undertaker following a spinebuster and the People's Elbow.

  • Edge pinned Batista following a spear, after Christian interfered and hit Batista with the United States Championship belt.

  • Triple H pinned Hardy after Hardy missed a Swanton bomb from the top of the cage.
  • Following the match, The Rock and Batista laid out Triple H with a steel chair, and celebrated The Rock's impending World Heavyweight Championship match against Triple H at WrestleMania.
