Resurrection V features the professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines that play out on the EAW brand: Showdown. Wrestlers portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
The main event of Resurrection V is special showcase match, pitting Robbie V against Mr. DEDEDE. The match is a sequel to their "Battle of the Gods" match at Pain for Pride 7, as this match is now dubbed "Battle of the Gods II."
At Grand Rampage, Devan Dubian defeated The Heart Break Boy in a captivating and competitive match to conclude their 3-part series, in which Dubian won the EAW Hall of Fame Championship for a second time. However, Devan's celebration was short-lived as after the match the newly-formed alliance of Jaywalker and Ares Vendetta would attack the two men, injuring the Heart Break Boy and stealing the Hall of Fame title. The next week, Devan came out and called out the two men, demanding a reason for their actions against him and The Heart Break Boy. Ares Vendetta and Jaywalker then came out, Hall of Fame Championship in hand, as they began to explain their reasonings. Their arguments eventually became extremely heated, with Ares and Jaywalker giving Dubian a week to decide who is given the Hall of Fame title match at Resurrection V. Their confrontation ended with Dubian hitting the Bleeding Edge and a Punt Kick onto two referees. The next week, Dubian, Ares, and Jaywalker came to a confrontation again, where they would trade words once more. At the end, Dubian eventually chose Jaywalker as the man who would face him for the Hall of Fame title, but they would also make the match for the next Showdown: Ares Vendetta vs Devan Dubian, to finally conclude their gruelling rivalry.
