Storylines[]
On the heels of an executive decision made by Voltage General Manager Kenny Drake, Cameron Ella Ava was named number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, with the eventual match taking place at Territorial Invasion. This presented what would turn out to be a great conflict of interest for her, as the sitting champion was her boyfriend, Jamie O'Hara. He would go on to retain. At the same event, TLA defeated Aren Mstislav in an "I Quit" match to become the new number one contender for the title. With that match set for Ground Zero, Drake then announced that Ava would be the special guest referee for the title bout.
Over the length of 10 months, Moongoose McQueen and Finnegan Wakefield have been sporadically feuding with one another. The feud became more heated when the EAW New Breed Championship entered the picture. At Pain For Pride X, McQueen captured the New Breed Championship in an Ultimate X match that also featured Wakefield. Shortly afterwards, Finnegan would challenge McQueen to a match for the title at a later date, which McQueen accepted. At NEO Uprising, the match ended in controversy when McQueen used his feet to escape the Wakefield Special, simultaniously having Finnegans shoulders to the match, which the referee called as a pinfall. The two began to argue over the result for over a month before Finnegan interupted a mock match for the championship between McQueen and his brother Shimmer, challenging to a match at Ground Zero. The following week, the stipulation of a Ladder match was added.
