EAW Bloodletter was a professional wrestling event that took place at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon on December 7, 2017. The event was produced by Elite Answers Wrestling, and was the first free-per-view dedicated solely to showcasing female Elitists from the company's Empire brand.
Production[]
Background[]
As a result of an uptick in competition in exposure in EAW's women's division, the aforementioned athletes were eventually relegated to their own brand, Empire, in September 2016. Over the course of 2017, the brand produced three brand-exclusive supershows: Malicious Intentions in March, Terminus in June, and a one-year anniversary show, Manifest Destiny, in September. Brand-exclusive FPVs had been a common occurrence for EAW's other three brands for years, producing recurring FPVs such as Shock Value, House of Glass, and Reasonable Doubt. Bloodletter, however, would mark the first time that Empire took center stage in that manner.
Storylines[]
Following Road to Redemption XI, Aria Jaxon retained the Women's World Championship in an Extreme Elimination Chamber match and her longtime friend Stephanie Matsuda unsuccessfully challenged inaugural Openweight Champion Ryan Marx for the title. In the opening segment of the November 9 episode of Empire, Matsuda kicked off the broadcast by addressing the audience in a heartfelt manner. She invited Jaxon out to join her, who lauded her for the changes she'd undergone and the spirited performance she'd put on at Road to Redemption. She then revealed that she'd gone to Empire General Manager Tarah Nova and insisted that Matsuda be her next challenger for her championship at Bloodletter.
