DUW Homecoming |
DUW Homecoming was a professional wrestling special event hosted by Down Under Wrestling. The event took place in Manly, Queensland, Australia on April 10, 2016. The name was a reference to DUW returning to the city where it began to gain a bigger fanbase in 2012, as well as the returns of DUW alumni Kelsey Spencer and Taylor Williams.
Eight professional wrestling matches took place at the event, with four being contested for championships. The show featured a double main event, the first match featured Sierra McKenzie defending the DUW Women's Championship against Kelsey Spencer, and the second featured Pierce Prourne defending the DUW World Heavyweight Championship against Taylor Williams.
Event[]
The show opened with a match between KC Carnage and Lacey McKenzie, where the winner would earn a future shot at the DUW Women's Championship. Carnage defeated McKenzie soundly to earn the title match. In the second match, Jamo picked up a huge victory over former World Champion Sarinyde.
The feud between Heath Williams and The Star Factor finally culminated in an Anarchy Rules Match between Williams and Star Factor leader and non-wrestler, Cheyenne Star. Despite interference from her Star Factor teammates, Haris Khan and Arman, Star was ultimately brutalised and defeated by the vengeful Williams, closing their feud.
Jeff Palmer returned from injury to take on the man who injured him, former champion Blake Roderick. Palmer pulled out a quick victory in his

return match.
Australian Champion Alex Johnson placed his coverted title on the line in an Open Invitation Ladder Match; the simple stipulation being that anyone could come down and challenge for the title, with the first wrestler to successful climb the ladder and unhook the belt becoming champion. Many wrestlers tried, including Dave Crowley, Josh Coyles and even Cheesecake. Just as it seemed Bob Van Dam was going to win and become the new champion, Cheyenne Star appeared from under the ring, delivered a low blow to Van Dam, and then climbed the ladder to retrieve the title.
In the first of two main events, Sierra McKenzie put her Women's Championship on the line against a returning Kelsey Spencer. Spencer, the longest reigning champion in the title's history, had taken offense to McKenzie parading around with the belt and devaluing its legacy with her disrespectful attitude and cheap tactics. Spencer was defeated when McKenzie held the ropes for leverage during a pin attempt.
The second main event and final match of the evening saw Pierce Prourne defend the World Heavyweight Title against the returning Taylor Williams. Williams, portraying a heel, had vowed to end Prourne's career leading up to the event, and stated he would begin a lengthy reign as champion. Despite his obvious size and strength advantage, Williams was outwrestled by the much-smaller Prourne, who managed to hit his finisher and defeat Williams cleanly to retain his championship.
