Atlanta Pro Wrestling, or known by it's abbreviated name, APW, is a American Professional Wrestling Promotion based in the capital state of Georgia, Atlanta. It originally went under a different name before it's rebrand in 2019, formerly being called New Orleans Pro Wrestling (or NOPW as a abbreviated promotion name). Which originally was based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Promotion was formed in 1996 by at the time, still contracted WCW Wrestler, Dominic Ramirez as a side project and a way to him and his friends to practice and harden their ring skills similar to how the Hart Dungeon operates. But in 1998, Dominic, alongside his friend Somaje Maverick and his wife Michelle Maverick, they would begin to turn it into a promotion with The Inaugural NOPW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. As of 2024, they all still currently run the company alongside Somaje's sister and Dominic's wife, AJ Maverick, with AJ being the head coach for new wrestlers and recruiter for the new talent, Somaje being the CCO and head producer and creator of several brands, championships and ideas, and Michelle being the official CEO of the company.
The promotion's main show APW TV (formerly NOPW TV) originally premiered on the Pro Wrestling Network from cable television on the CW network from 1998-2012 until it was picked up by the Pro Wrestling Network on April 11th, 2012. Currently, they are now being broadcasted on both the WWE Network (until 2021), and the Peacock app after the company began collabing with WWE in 2019. Following the partnership, NOPW was rebranded to Atlanta Pro Wrestling in order to usher in a new era of the promotion, and to expand their reach to the public.
