Alyssa Leoni (born December 5, 1987) is an Australian professional wrestler better known by her ring-name Alyssa Starr.

Early life[]

Alyssa was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia to her father and mother Andrea. Her family were low-income, but despite the money issues, they tried to give her a lot. She was a massive tomboy who loved climbing trees, video games and professional wrestling. Alyssa trained in gymnastics for a couple of years.

At the age of 12, her parents had a rough divorced. Her behaviour went from bubbly and cheerful to depressed and sarcastic, she was often lonely and had no friends. Alyssa was often bullied by students and teachers. For a period of time, she did not attend high school, however she eventually attended a school for troubled teenagers and graduated sometime in her early wrestling career.

Professional wrestling career[]

Training and early years (2003 - 2007)

At the age of fifteen, Alyssa enrolled in various wrestling schools in Melbourne including PWA Melbourne where future WWE wrestler Emma also attended, three months later she made her professional wrestling debut. Until the age of eighteen, she wrestled occasionally while finishing her studies. After school was over, she decided that her wrestling career was meant to be. She began working part-time jobs to save up money and move to the United States of America. She lived in a cheap apartment in southern Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while continuing working different sorts of jobs to provide for herself and her career. Alyssa was starting to get some exposure across the independent circuit and was also invited to wrestle on European and Japanese tours. Starr thanks her experiences in Europe and Japan for helping her improve as a performer. During those tours she gained the nickname “Heartbreaker”, a tribute to Shawn Michaels.
