Rakim Troy Jackson (born October 30, 1994), better known by his ring name and real name Rakim Jackson, is an American professional wrestler from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He is currently signed to Hard Knox Wrestling
Rakim Jackson was born on October 30, 1994 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA to his mother and father. His father was an aspiring rapper but could only make it locally known in Memphis, and was heavily into drugs. He was never in the house. Eventually his mother (who was a stripper making money) decided that she could not handle Rakim's father constantly never in the house, and never helping out with the baby. She eventually decided to leave him, much to his disgust and eventually beat her until a neighbor who happened to walk by the window saw this and immediately called police. Rakim's father was jailed for domestic violence and aggravated assault.
Rakim and his mother in early 1995 moved to Philadelphia to be closer to his mother's parents. Rakim grew up in the projects of north Philadelphia where he had to learn from wrong to right. His mother ended up becoming a prostitute and a part-time stripper to make money to support her and her son. Rakim learned in 1999 to steal from corner stores without getting caught. Rakim kept seeing different boyfriends of his mother's all the time growing up. His mother got heavily into cocaine around 2002, and Rakim used to have to sit in his room while she did it, because she didn't want him to see it.
Rakim saw this and knew he never wanted to do drugs, because seeing it in person really destroyed his mind. His mother eventually quit being a prostitute, but kept her part time stripper job, and ended up meeting a boyfriend who knew how to deal drugs. Rakim decided that he didn't need to be home, so by the time of 2006, he decided to go out in the streets during the day and night. Sometimes, he didn't even come home. He just slept at friend's home or just on the streets in alleyways hidden away from the public.
In 2007, while roaming the channels on his little television in his room, he watched Platinum Dynasty Wrestling show and instantly got hooked onto it. He ended up realizing that he wanted to pursue wrestling in his future. Eventually this ambition caused him to realize he needed to work out all the time. But being young, and no money, he couldn't afford a gym. He just did random workouts in his room.
He got into his first real fight in late 2007, when a group of older high school thugs walked up to him on the streets and beat him senselessly for everything he had on him. However, he only had about 2 bucks. That fight made him learn he had to do something to recover from that. He ended up going to library to research how to fight, and eventually he developed an attitude that no one was treat him like that every again.
By 2009, he attended Central High School where he decided to get into wrestling. However, the friends and enemies he made kept him for focusing in on school. He got his first job at Taco Bell, but got fired for having sexual intercourse with a younger female employee in his car in the parking lot. He then started dealing drugs, but not doing them, to make some money.
In 2011, in his junior year, he was arrested one night when police found him selling 0.5 gram of marijuana to a teenager. He ran from the police, but was eventually caught. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 1/gm and evading arrest. This event caused him to realize that what he was doing was foolish, and juvenile really got into his head. His mother found out, and this was what caused her to change her lifestyle realizing her influence must of impacted on Rakim.
His mother, who was single anyways, completely quit selling drugs. She was already fired from her stripper job years previous. She ended up getting a full-time job at the local McDonalds. Rakim returned to school only to be approached by the principal and kicked out for the arrest saying he doesn't wish to have that type of influence in his school. Pissing him off, Rakim decided to drop out and got a job at a factory.
In early 2013, his mother decided that Rakim needed to at least go get his GED. He obtained his GED in the summer, and decided to go ahead and perform his dream.
Using his birthday money, he went to a Platinum Dynasty Wrestling show where he saw a James Shark v.s. Spirit Z match. Amazed by both of these wrestlers' skill and trash talk. He decided to meet these two and beg for for an opportunity to train under them. He met them both outside of the arena, where Spirit Z was waved him off, but realizing the kids ambition. Decided to prove himself, he was given Z's number and told to meet him in a few months. James Shark feeled for the kid, but told him he wasn't a trainer. After convincing the veteran that he'd be worth it. James Shark agreed, but wouldn't do it full-time.
Rakim began training under James Shark and Spirit Z separately from around January 2014 to June 2014. Eventually Spirit Z stopped in May due to his quarrel with his brother, so Rakim began to just train with James Shark at the same part-time schedule. Eventually he was ready. After attending a few Hard Knox Wrestling shows in Philadelphia, he decided to do a tryout match with them in late July 2014.
Hard Knox Wrestling (2014-present)
On August 12, 2014 he signed a contract with Hard Knox Wrestling on its DEFIANCE brand. This was officially announced on his twitter at 11:26 pm central time. He made his first appearance on DEFIANCE 21 on August 16, 2014 in a promo he had previously recorded earlier in the day at the Hard Knox facility, talking about why he's wrestling and a little of his background. He was approved to go to Houston for the Almost Famous pay-per-view where he got to meet his bosses Brandon Banks and Lyle Risky, and he also got to meet a fellow wrestler, Alex J. He also met another wrestling great Cody Taylor, who is one of James Shark's best friends. After the PPV, in the early morning of September 1, 2014. He was alarmed to find out that he'll be debuting on the next Defiance in a fatal four way. Although he lost, he was given good feedback on his debut.
On Defiance XXIII (October 6, 2014), he approached fellow wrestler Drew Thornton about aligning with him to help him with his problem with the notorious mafia gang, The Family. However over the course of weeks, Rakim started to realize that Drew Thornton was holding him back as Rakim began to lose focus in his matches. On the supershow House of Pain on November 7, 2014, he watched as The Family kidnapped Drew Thornton, and watched a video showing Drew Thornton looking as if he was gonna be sacrified. However, he would find out Drew Thornton was just badly beaten, and the hatchet and turning off the camera to look as if they were gonna kill him was just boosting morale. Rakim would find Jesse Lewis, his trainer and Director of Operations, and tell him that he was done with The Family and would go on in his own wrestling life.
Rakim Jackson is a Christian, but doesn't preach about it. He is an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Auburn Tigers football team. In his spare time, he likes to listen to music and cites 50 Cent as his favorite rapper. He is good friends with his trainer James Shark. After being signed to Hard Knox Wrestling he started undergoing further training with Kenneth Matthews (one of the trainers for HKW) after receiving recommendations to do so from his previous trainer.
